Our Community

Collage of LSI community members in the lab and participating in community activities

The LSI is committed to fostering a climate in which every team member can succeed — where faculty, trainees and staff from across disciplines and perspectives combine their talents to achieve institutional and scientific excellence.

Our multidisciplinary community brings together a variety of scientific backgrounds and expertise with a common purpose: to push science forward with intensity and urgency. In support of this culture of scientific excellence, the CIVIC (Community Involvement & Vision for Institute Climate) team leads the LSI's efforts to plan and implement strategies that provide a climate for success for every member of our community. The team includes faculty, students, postdocs, research staff and administrative staff.

Community outreach

At the LSI, we know that our work does not stop at fostering an internal climate of scientific excellence. To maximize the impact of our research, we must actively support connections between research, teaching and service to the public. As members of a public university, and participants in publicly-funded research, we view outreach to the public as inseparable from our scientific mission and core values.

LSI community members inspire and support future generations to pursue scientific exploration through a variety of outreach initiatives and activities.
