Margolies Is Firm Believer in Mission of Life Sciences Institute

Gregory Margolies (AB ’88) of New York City is pleased to be dedicating both time and resources to the Life Sciences Institute.
Margolies has made a contribution to the LSI’s Center for Chemical Genomics establishing the Gregory Margolies Fund for the Center for Chemical Genomics. He also serves on the Life Sciences Institute Leadership Council.
The gift came about for two reasons, Margolies explains. First, he was impressed by the University’s commitment to the life sciences and its interdisciplinary approach to research in this field. Closer to home, several people close to Margolies have been affected by cancer. He wanted to fund research into the causes of cancer at the most basic level.
“It’s a long-term commitment,” says Margolies. “This was an opportunity to make a fundamental difference in helping to find an inhibitor or a cure for cancer.”
Margolies is director of the Leverage Finance Group at Merrill Lynch.
