Carroll lab captures the ubiquitous protein reductant, thioredoxin in action
In February 2007, the Carroll lab published an accelerated publication in Biochemistry that describes the crystal structure and biochemical analysis of a protein called thioredoxin in complex with a key enzyme in the bacterial sulfate assimilation pathway called PAPS reductase.
The complex that was trapped is a central intermediate in the catalytic cycle. Notably, it is the first structural example of thioredoxin trapped in the act of reducing another enzyme.
