I. Student Research and Broadening Access to Science
Our goals in this part of the program are to increase hands-on research opportunities for undergraduates and to increase the diversity of the pool of students participating in research. We will do this primarily by expanding our undergraduate research opportunity program (UROP) and Perrigo Summer Fellows Program and integrating them with schools that have student populations that primarily consist of underrepresented minorities. These students will participate in the Life Sciences Summer Fellowship Program.
Life Sciences Summer Fellowship Program: Undergraduate students will work in the laboratories of participating faculty members on a range of projects in the life sciences.
